Chester’s 2025 Primary

To the Chester Community:

Cindy Lignar, First Selectman

I am very grateful and excited to have been re-elected by Democrats as First Selectman in Chester’s first-ever known Democratic primary election. Such an honor! We live in a democracy where the democratic process was followed – and it works.

I sincerely thank all our Democratic neighbors and friends for their support during the primary and for taking the time to vote! Voter turnout was high for a primary. Our Town Clerk, Kate Hair, posted the Primary results on our Town website.

Thank you to our Registrars of Voters and our Town Clerk for the labor-intensive work required for this primary. They are all proven professionals in their roles.

I would also like to thank Democratic Town Committee members and several other volunteers who worked to place lawn signs, make phone calls, donate funds, and provide encouragement—all of which made a difference and resulted in a positive outcome for me and Chester!

As we approach the November 4th election, I am currently unopposed for the First Selectman’s seat and ask for your support once again. I will continue dedicating myself fully to the responsibilities this position requires. My first-term accomplishments are many, and the product of collaborative efforts with Town staff, volunteers, and partners. Much work still to be done, and I will keep working to ensure our residents’ needs are met while focusing on Chester’s well-being and sustainability for the future.

Please contact me anytime with questions or concerns, or to schedule a meeting at firstselectman@chesterct.org or 860-526-0013 ext. 202.
